Hello, Last time I explained about the extreme test(wow test). Today, I will tell you in detail about the washing test that reproduces the conditions of washing a automobile.
The test setup has to be prepared with sensors. Every measurement point, respectively the complete measuring chain has to be checked regarding the plausibility of the actual values. Regarding the environmental parameters of the chamber, the air temperature has to be measured. Additional thermocouples can be added, e. g. measuring surface temperature of the car. In the case of components with different function positions (e. g. exterior mirrors) the test position has to be changed during the test or a distinct position has to be defined as the "worst-case" postition.
It is not necessary for the tests to simulate an additional load. Hence, no dummies for the seats are needed for the test setup. Before starting the test, the conditions of the chamber have to be stabilized to a temperature of +23℃ and to a rel. humidity of 30% for at least 6 hours. This procedure is useful to generate a comparable starting condition. Also, this time can be used to check the measurement system as well as the functions of the car.
Test Execution - High Pressure Washing Test
A high pressure washing test similar to the ISO 20653, IP X9K is recommended to simulate a very extreme and intensive car cleaning by a customer. The focus of this test is to check all exterior sealed parts / sub-systems regarding tightness and all exterior parts regarding and kind of degradation.
This test procedure also covers very extreme weather conditions like typhoons with very intensive rain fall in combination with extreme winds.
It is recommended to set up following described test parameters:
1. Distance of jet nozzle from test specimen : 100mm
2. Water temperature : 40℃ ± 5℃
3. Water flow rate : 10 to 20l/min
4. Operating pressure : 150 bar ± 10 bar
5. Position to specimen (surface) : 30º, 60º, 90º(vertical),120º, 150º
6. Duration : each position ca. 10min per square meter of car surface
7. Chamber condition : ambient
